How to remove unwanted columns in flatfiles?

I have flat file that contains some columns which I don't need. Is it possible to remove those unwanted columns in SSIS?

Re: How to remove unwanted columns in flatfiles?

You can do this using "Data Flow" tab.

Under Data Flow Tab,
Double click your database connection
Set your mappings.
Only map the columns you need.

The columns which don't need will be automatically removed...

Re: How to remove unwanted columns in flatfiles?

The unwanted columns in a flat files won't be removed. When you are creating the import package using SQL Server Import and Export Wizard, you can set it up to ignore them.

The SQL Server Import and Export Wizard offers the simplest method to create a Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Integration Services (SSIS) package that copies data from a source to a destination.

The SQL Server Import and Export Wizard can access a variety of data sources. You can copy data to and from the following sources:
  1. SQL Server
  2. Flat files
  3. Access
  4. Excel
  5. Other OLE DB providers

Re: How to remove unwanted columns in flatfiles?

SSIS-SQL Server 2005 Integration Services offers tools and wizards for deploying packages.

You deploy Integration Services packages by building a deployment utility for the project that contains the packages you want to deploy, and then running the Package Installation Wizard to install the packages to the file system or to an instance of SQL Server 2005.

Before you build a deployment utility for the packages, you can create package configurations that update properties of package elements at run time. The configurations are automatically included when you deploy the packages.
