Change the text of a button

Here is my problem:

I downloaded a graphics kit, in this kit the buttons were already created with the text "home". But I want to put my text on the buttons. But they are in gif format and I have no idea how to modify it.

I have firework and other software. Can someone guide me how to do so?

The text is embedded in the picture or not? Can you select the text with the cursor on the web page? If you can select it, just go and change the text in the .html file, just replace "home" by whatever you want.

If you can not select the text that is embedded in the image, you must open the image with a designing software (photoshop for example) and turn the knob in writing what you want it. But keep the same name for the image, and do not change its size. And keep the same format ".gif".

If it is not embedded take the image and transform it. Often with photoshop it is easy to delete the text embedded in one or taking samples of the substance, I have already tried this.
