why doesnt anybody go for BLOODSHED DEV C++ 4.0 ? its a freeware and has a GUI. u can also get free updates from its website. the compiler is also quite user-friendly. i find it to b a decent substitute for TC.
don't know why but all colleges seems to be happy only with TC.

i was doing my project which needed large number of colors (shading project - SeqouiaView type). All i could get with TC were 64 shades of single color at a time, max 256 colors, in 640x480

when i asked to my prof. about this they told me to shift to VC++

and then there was no one knowing VC++ to help me if i stuck somewere, i learned VC on my one, upto the level that i can complete my project. i am still faceing some memory leakage problems as VC makes mem dump after my program exits. and there is no one who can tell me whats the problem.

really college prof. hardly know how to work with other C compilers.
