Authentication issues with the .NET Password

I heard that we can set the directory security of some virtual directory to .Net Passport authentication.
My problem is: Which .Net passport account should I use? Could I use the public MSN ID/Live ID applied from Microsoft (which we use to login MSN messenger) or should be use some other kinds .Net Passport ID?
please help.

Please suggest me the steps for implementing .NET password authentication and also let me know, whether Web server also needs the Password authentication?

For .NET passport authenticatione here are some steps that are required to implement on your system.

1. Download the Microsoft .NET Passport SDK from the Microsoft Site and install it in your web server.

2. Register your application in .NET Service Manager. Go to Service Manager Site , this is where you need to create application for your website. You will be prompted for contact information and other details. After that you will be prompted for Application details.
