Unexpected behaviour of Web Site, Need to Stop!

Expecting suggestion as soon as possible!!
I am facing some problem related to my Web-site, it is running very slowly otherwise it is running very unresponsively and also i wanted to stop my website at one point while running programatically.
currently I am using IE6 and planning to use IE7, please provide some information.
