Visual Basic 2008 & VB.net Difference any?

Well, please excuse me for this jerky question but i need to know if VB 2008 & VB.net both are one & the same? As i am new to programming i thought of starting with Vb.net cause i am interested in .net platform and for this i also found a cheap book of Visual Basic 2008 which i already picked up.

Yes, both are nothing different but the same thing. If you want to learn more then there are many VB forums where you can hang out. Check out vbasic.net site.
