SBS server cant browse internet, but can see lan

Hi guys,

i started a thread on this about a year ago and didn't get it resolved.

running sbs 2003 single nic config

backround: my server basically can't browse the internet. i cant ping
www.yahoo.com from cmd prompt either. I can see all my workstations on the
lan. the last time i posted this, i listed tcp/ip for both server and
workstation configs and all was right. i had to add a public dns as
secondary on all of my workstations so they could get out to the world and
send pop email. all workstations can see and use shared drives on the server
too. our central anti virus can't go out to get updates either.

my question is: has anyone ever tried using winsock fix to rebuild tcp/ip
stack on server? i'm trying my hardest not to reinstall. thanks in advance
for any help.
-mike

Hi Mike,

Let's see what the SBS 2003 BPA has to say about your configuration...

Please install, update and run a scan with the SBS 2003 BPA:

The first time I installed SBS I had a similar problem--it was the "legacy"
NIC installed on the server. I replaced it with an approved NIC and all was
great. I didn't look for your old post to see if you mentioned any
hardware information.

Hmm, thats an idea. no, I didn't mention any hardware in my old post. Of
course now, I can't exactly run windows update to find an approved driver.
Its a Dell Power Edge series. Thanks for your response mate.
