    Help..Restore Exchange 2003 from one SBS Server to another

    We are using Symantec Backup Exec 11 on an old SBS 2003 Server. Now, I have installed a new Server with SBS 2003 with Symantec Backup Exec 12 and have restored Exchange IS for 40 users after creating Recovery Storage Group. You can see the RSG and also mount it and can see the mail boxes, but when I run the task to move a user from the RSG to the Live Storage Group, I am getting the below error:

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="unicode" ?>
    - <taskWizardRun taskName="Recover Mailbox Data" dcName="LCM"
    buildNumber="7226" runningAs="administrator@SERVER.LOCAL">
    <timespan startTime="2008-06-20 10:43:21.738" milliseconds="62" />
    - <recoverMailbox>
    - <destination>
    <database>/dc=local/dc=server/cn=Configuration/cn=Services/cn=Microsoft
    Exchange/cn=SERVER/cn=Administrative Groups/cn=first administrative
    group/cn=Servers/cn=LCM/cn=InformationStore/cn=First Storage Group/cn=Mailbox
    Store (LCM)</database>
    </destination>
    </recoverMailbox>
    <taskSummary errorCount="1" completedCount="0" warningCount="0"
    errorCode="0x00000000" />
    - <items>
    - <item adsPath="barry price" class="user">
    <progress code="0" milliseconds="62">Connecting to source
    server.</progress>
    <summary isWarning="false" errorCode="0xc1050000">The attempt to log on to the Microsoft Exchange Server computer has failed. The MAPI provider failed. Microsoft Exchange Server Information Store ID no: 8004011d-0512-00000000</summary>
    </item>
    </items>

    Is there any solution for this problem? Thanks

    Re: Help..Restore Exchange 2003 from one SBS Server to another

    This issue seems to be a problem with exchange group. There doesnt seems to be any real difference between Exchange on SBS and on Windows that will affect this. My thoughts are that the names all have to match for this to work. Since there are not being any mailbox for newly created users, has any user logged on to the new box? You can also try to use the exmerge or "drag and drop / copy" to pst files on the old SBS server and then bring them over to the new SBS.

    RE: Help..Restore Exchange 2003 from one SBS Server to another

    The issue that you are facing can occur because the Move Mailbox task cannot log on to the System Attendant mailbox. The System Attendant user has a mailbox on each server, usually on the default mailbox store. The errors can occur if one or more of the following conditions are true:
    1. The default mailbox store on the target server is not mounted.
    2. The value for the homeMDB attribute in Active Directory is missing for the System Attendant mailbox on the target server.
