How to uninstall WSS 2,0, WSS 3.0, MOSS 2007?

Hi, I’m in need of some urgent help and hope I get the same here. We are running SBS 2003 SP2 server with SQL 2005 and ISA 2004. On this server there are WSS 2.0, WSS 3.0 and MOSS2007 already installed. But I want to uninstall all these three completely from the system and do a fresh install of just WSS 3.0. Can anyone here please provide me the best of doing the same?

Let me tell you that before posting the query here, I already tried it doing myself but wasn’t successful. When I tried uninstalling and reinstalling WSS 3.0, I received an error message stating:

“An exception of type System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException was thrown. DDL Statement is not allowed”

Similar thing happened while uninstalling MOSS 2007. Though I removed it from Add and Remove programs, it still remains there. So, somebody here please let me know how can I get rid of all those things as well as database. Thank you.

Here are the steps you need. In order to uninstall WSS 3.0, follow these steps:
    • Click Start > All Programs > Administrative Tools > click SharePoint 3.0 Central Administration.
    • Now under SharePoint Web Application Management on the Application Management tab, click Delete Web Application.
    • In Web Application, from the drop-down menu, click Change Web Application. On the Select Web Application page, select the Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 default Web site (http://ServerName).
    • In Delete options, delete the content databases and the IIS Web sites
    • In the warning message box, click Yes.
    • Wait for the Application Management tab to appear, and then close the Windows SharePoint Services Central Administration site.

Now in order to re-install WSS 3.0, I think you can get better tutorial here: Installing Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 on a Server Running Windows Small Business Server 2003: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Thank you very much for the help Hilfiger. There seems to be some problem. I’m just stuck on your very first step. Though the item is on the menus, but it won't go to the Administration page.

    What can I do now?

I think you need to uninstall WSS 3.0 manually. OK, here is the procedure:
First of all you will need to disable five services including
    Windows SharePoint Services Administration
    Windows SharePoint Services Search
    Windows SharePoint Services Timer
    Windows SharePoint Services Tracing
    Windows SharePoint Services VSS Writer

Once done, Backup and then delete the following registry hives:
    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Web Server Extensions\12.0
    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\WSS

After this, you will need to delete the following folders:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12

That’s it. Now check your system if you still have WSS installed on your system.
