SBS2008 Sharepoint Setup

I have just installed windows sbs 2008 server and setup active directory. Once I got the Active Directory detup then I ran the internet connection wizard and i setup the domain name to be used with the server and everything was working fine. If I am going to http://companyweb or any other domain to access sharepoint then I am getting asked to login with my user credentials and once inputed I am present with a page stating "The webpage cannot be found" giving a 404 error. Is the SBS 2008 will not setup sharepoint services to work from the get to go or am I missing a configuration step? The Sharepoint central adminitration site works just fine but only the companyweb will not work? Can anyone help? Thanks.

It will be best that you try to run the SBS 2008 BPA and post any results you are not familiar with or do not understand.

You can also try to check your DNS entries, it might be that you just dont have companyweb record there. What is the thing reported for nslookup companyweb.

I have just ran the best pratice analyzer and it did not come back with any errors relating to Sharepoint. Is there anything else that I need to do?

Normally, the DNS fixes the companyweb to 10.1.1.31 which is the proper IP for internal. It will also fix the proper outside IP address if you can use public domain.

I also needed to add that when I go to the website http://companyweb/default.aspx then it gives me a 404 file not found. Is there suppose to be a default webpage for the sharepoint site? Can anyone tell me a way to reinstall sharepoint in SBS 2008? Thanks.
