| SBS 2003 Setup Wizard Stops Before Completing
I just got the disks from Microsoft: Received: Pkg 1 One set of 6 CD’s “Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003 R2 Standard Edition” August 2006 Disk 2 through 4, Outlook, R2 Technologies, No disk 1 Pkg 2 One CD “Microsoft Windows Server 2003 for Small Business Server with Service Pack 2” July 2003 Microsoft Windows Server 2003 for Small Business Server with Service Pack 2 I started the installation with Microsoft Windows Server 2003 for Small Business Server with Service Pack 2. I had one error on the first login (where you begin to interact in your admin login) where the nic cards did not have drivers and the setup stopped. Shortcut is gone. Fixed that issue, but no shortcut to restart the setup. Ran the setup again but did a reinstall (did not delete the partition), had a dhcp issue (router was still assigned as dhcp, stopped that), but install stops there. How can I get it going, dc looks installed, but exchange and other later setup item (system manager, etc.) not installed. Any help appreciated. |

Any reason for a 2nd thread? You've had responses from Merv in your 1st thread. What your received is two different products. You should contact the folks that sent you package 1 and tell them you missing disk 1 for Small Business Server Package 2 is a pint sized version of Windows Server 2003, has no exchange, company web, RWW, etc and is limited to 15 CALs Both have the same name...not a great move on MS's part -- Cris Hanna [SBS-MVP] ------------------------------------------------- Microsoft MVPs Independent Experts (MVPs do not work for MS) Real World Answers --------------------------------------------------------- Please do not contact me directly regarding issues "dsfseattle" <dsfseattle@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:104303EB-44FD-4DF3-AE32-83330BF6FAA0@microsoft.com... Steve, Sorry, I started a new thread because it appeared that the problem had grown. I'll notify Merv of the new thread. Dave "Steve" wrote: > Any reason for a 2nd thread? As Cris says, that single CD that you have may be "Windows Server 2003 for Small Business Server" and not "Windows Small Business Server 2003". That would explain the problem. Windows Small Business Server 2003 R2: Product Information http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserv.../prodinfo.mspx -------------------------- Q. What is Windows Server for Small Business Server? A. Windows Server for Small Business Server (WSfSBS) is an operating-system only product based on SBS 2003 with Service Pack 1. It does not include any other applications, wizards, or integration tools that are found in the full SBS 2003 R2 product. WSfSBS has the same Active Directory limitations as SBS 2003 R2 (must be the root domain controller in the forest, does not support trusts, cannot move the FSMO roles) and has an additional limitation of only 15 SBS CALs. Lastly, there are no supported upgrade paths, either to SBS 2003 R2 or to Windows Server 2003 R2. -------------------------- -- Merv Porter [SBS-MVP] ============================ "Cris Hanna [SBS-MVP]" <crisnospamhanna@cpunospamservices.net> wrote in message news:OW6F%23imwIHA.5892@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl...
