No sound over Remote Desktop Connection to SBS server

I have got a SBS server that I should use to connect to via RDC and recieve sound on the connecting PC. I have installed a cheap sound card on the server hoping that it will get the sound working and even after installing the drivers fine and getting the sound working on the actual server, but the sound over the RDC sill wont work. After I am loading the DXDiag at the time of the remote session and open the sound tab, then it will give me the below error message:

    Sound Devices
    -------------
Description: Microsoft RDP Audio Driver (emulated)
    Device ID:
    Manufacturer ID: 1
    Product ID: 24
    Type: Emulated
    Driver Name:
    Driver Version:
    Driver Attributes:
    Driver Signed:
    Date and Size:
    Other Files:
    Driver Provider:
    HW Accel Level: Basic
    Registry: OK
Sound Test Result: Failure at step 3 (DirectSoundCreate): HRESULT = 0x8878000a (The request failed because DirectSound resources, such as the priority level, were already in use by another caller.)

Below is the output from dxdiag at the time of console session:

    Sound Devices
    -------------
    Description: C-Media Wave Device
    Device ID: PCI\VEN_13F6&DEV_0111&SUBSYS_011113F6&REV_10
    Manufacturer ID: 1
    Product ID: 100
    Type: WDM
    Driver Name: cmaudio.sys
    Driver Version: 5.12.01.0639 (English)
    Driver Attributes: Final Debug
    Driver Signed: No
    Date and Size: 7/16/2002 09:58:12, 379726 bytes
    Other Files:
    Driver Provider: C-Media
    HW Accel Level: Basic
    Registry: OK
    Sound Test Result:

The connecting computer is Windows XP Pro that rules out the Group Policy setting. Any help would be welcome

Re: No sound over Remote Desktop Connection to SBS server

Can you please tell us what is it that you need to hear from the server? I think that you are doing it not properly, when you are trying to set the SBS server as media server and then listen or view over a rdp session. Did you noticed the checkbox somewhere about sound, which might be under advanced settings on the connect screen.

If you try to make RWW connections then ensure that they check the Private Computer button at the first logon screen, it might alleviate the disconnection problem. You can also try https://secure.logmein.com/products/pro/ which also comes for a free trial and will let you check out whether it will solve the disconnection problem.
