Is there a Trend Micro client for Vista?

Is there a way to get Trend Micro client/server/messaging to actually
protect a Vista Ultimate client? And, of course, how to do it.

Re: Is there a Trend Micro client for Vista?

Alas, I can't find a statement of that kind of a version number. I can
find that it is Program Version 7.2, and that the Engine Version is
8.550.1001. This from the TM client/server Security Agent. Where is
the Version of 3.5 or 3.6 to be found?

Re: Is there a Trend Micro client for Vista?

Open up Security Console

https://server.domain.lan:4343/SMB/c...kMasterPwd.exe

Select "HELP" Tab

Then Down to "About"

That page will tell you what Version you are running.

I presume you mean to log onto the console before going for the help tab.
Therein lies the problem. I can't see a help tab. I know the console
extends off the edge of what I can see. Even when I move the console so
the left side is off-screen, and extend the right side, I can only get as
far as half-way through the Preferences tab. If there is anything else
out there, I can't get to it. Don't know why, but that is the way it is.

Is there any other way to find it, like in the .ini file?

Re: Is there a Trend Micro client for Vista?

You should be able to scroll over to see the help tab?
This you can do in all browsers???

You can also view the Readme.txt files and see what version is there.

Re: Is there a Trend Micro client for Vista?

Change the screen resolution on your SBS to something a bit bigger
than 640x480? Maybe 1024x760? And look a it when logged in to the
server using the server keyboard, mouse and monitor? I might have 30
SBS installs and I can read the whole Trend console without scrolling
when I am sitting at the server using a standard 15" or larger
monitor. I have to scroll about when using the laptop but not the home
pc when doing rdp. Laptop does not have the same size monitor as a
standard monitor.

I do not know of any other way to read what version of CSM.

Re: Is there a Trend Micro client for Vista?

Good Catch,
Minimum Requirements on SBS is 800X600
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserv...s/default.mspx

But he can look in the readme.txt files for the version of Trend.

Turns out, I was at 800X600. I had to bump it up to the next level of
1064X768 to see the full console. There, the help-->about says my
version is 3.0 and the build is 1030. Is there an upgrade path from
there that won't involve a three-month upgrade process with nine
interactive sessions with the senior techs at Trend Micro. That is
what happened the last time.

You guys are good! Not even the Trend Micro tech who was trying to get
the console to call home and pick up the renewal data remembered the
screen resolution. (But for that, I would think it was another senior
moment. But it is really a "set it and forget it" syndrome event.

Is there a recycle path for SBS when it becomes too much for me to
support?

Re: Is there a Trend Micro client for Vista?

Hollis

It's really easy to deploy or Redeploy

Assuming you have a Current TREND License
And your console shows you your key.

Will take you about 1-2hrs
Because you are so out of date 3.0 vs 3.6
I'd recommend uninstalling it first

First I'd login to web console and remove clients
(It will allow you to remove remotely each client program from each pc)

Then Write down your KEY (In Console)

Then Remove Trend from the add remove in the SBS server.

Reinstall The New Trend (From the link I gave you.)
Put in the Key that you wrote down.

Configure Spam etc and all settings.

After done configuration of the Web control panel

Put in the SBS Login Script
\\Server\ofcscan\AutoPcc.exe

And when People login, they will get it installed on their client.

That's about it.

I have upgrade version 2 to 3.6 with nominal drama. No uninstalls.
Make sure you also get whatever patches Trend has on the same page as
the download.

Glad to know, I just have never let it get that much out of date
so I was worried it might cause issues.

Well, the TM tech agrees with Russ. Here is what she said:

"Yes, it is best that you uninstall the previous version before
installing the 3.6. Also make sure that the important files are
backed-up before the uninstallation. You can follow the link below for
the things that you need to back-up:
http://esupport.trendmicro.com/suppo...ID=EN-1033854&
id=EN-1033854 "

But we just had a heck of a time getting the console to accept my
latest renewals, so I am inclined not to jettison that. I'll report
back for a "Told you so!"

Re: Is there a Trend Micro client for Vista?

Well, I did the backup and went to download the installer for 3.6 and
they would only give me 4kbites per sec, which they estimated as a
23-24 hour download. Now, that is something in which I have no
confidence. So I bagged it. I started up on the Vista client and it
has already finished downloading. When it started it was getting
400Kbits per second.

I was poking around on the server system disk, and it is reporting only
350 MB free out of 18.6 GB; and the Exchange databases have been moved
to another disk. I still have a problem.

Do I really need Live Meeting under Microsoft Office in the system
disk? How about msdntrain? Or Wait a minute! There is a MDBDATA
folder with dates of 3/14/2008, and a MDBDATA_old with dates of
12/8/2006. That one should go, definitely. Where is the wizard to
move the current files? That is going to screw up the back up routine
if I move those, I bet.

What say you all?
