Delete previous version of file made by shadow copy?

Hi,
Is there a way to delete previous versions of a file made by shadow copy?
I ask b/c there are a few files in a user's my documents folder that contain
some sensitive info in plain text files. The user has since moved the info
out of those files and into something with more layers of security, but the
shadow copies of the files still contain the original info.
Thanks,
Ari

As far as Im aware you have to delete the shadow copy for the volume. But
doing this you lose all other info. Thinking of it logically what happens if
you 'rename' the file ? Haven't tried it but now there isn't some 'old
history' of this renamed file so restore option not available.

Writing this has just prompted me to ask myself if I deleted a file, the
original is not there BUT there is a shadow copy. If I knew the name of the
original deleted file and created this would that then allow me access to
the original deleted file.... hmmm gonna test this.

Re: Delete previous version of file made by shadow copy?

Too bad. I didn't want to delete the whole shadow copy for the volume.
You are correct that 'renaming' the file is a partial solution. You are also
correct that creating a new file with the same name as the one in the shadow
copy will allow a user to acces the previous versions of the deleted file.
