Problem w/ Remote web workplace - remote desktop active X control

Hello

I am using MS IE7 - I get an error each time I try to run /install the
terminal services active X client -

I click on install - I get no error message,

then when I try to connect to a machine - I get the active X message again
that I need to install the acive client

Is there another way to install this - or possibly is there an issue w/ my
settings - possibly being to restrictive to install this Active X

Generally I do not have problems installing active X clients

Thank you

John

RE: Problem w/ Remote web workplace - remote desktop active X control

Hello John,

Thank you for posting here.

From your post, I understand that when attempting to access RWW in IE7, it
keeps asking you to install ActiveX controller. If I have misunderstood
your concern, please feel free to correct me.

I suggest you try following steps and check if it helps:

Firstly, please install following update:

Update for Windows Small Business Server 2003: Windows Vista and Outlook
2007 compatibility (KB 926505)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...1E4-1B2C-471B-
A284-E0C8C169FAC3&displaylang=en

In addition, please ensure to log on the client as an administrator.

Suggestion 1: Reset IE settings
=========
1. Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options.
2. On the Advanced tab, click Reset.
3. In the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box, click Reset.
4. When Internet Explorer finishes restoring the default settings, click
Close, and then click OK two times.
5. Close Internet Explorer. The changes take effect the next time that you
open Internet Explorer.

Suggestion 2:
=========
1. In Internet Explorer, click Tools menu and click Internet Options. Click
the Advanced tab. Scroll to the bottom. In the Security section, click to
check the "Do not save encrypted pages to disk" check box. Click OK.

2. If the problem even persists, try backing up and deleting the following
registry key on this IE 7 machine

HKLM\software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\ActiveX
Compatibility\{7584c670-2274-4efb-b00b-d6aaba6d3850}

Please try the above steps at your earliest convenience. If you have any
concern, please feel free to let me know.

Suggestion 3:
=========
Please click Start-->Run, type CMD and click OK. Then run following
commands:

regsvr32 urlmon.dll /s
regsvr32 hlink.dll /s
regsvr32 msjava.dll /s
regsvr32 mshtml.dll /s
regsvr32 jscript.dll /s
regsvr32 vbscript.dll /s
regsvr32 shdocvw.dll /s
regsvr32 browseui.dll /s
regsvr32 actxprxy.dll /s
regsvr32 softpub.dll /s
regsvr32 scrrun.dll /s
regsvr32 shell32.dll /s
regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll /s
regsvr32 wintrust.dll /s
regsvr32 dssenh.dll /s
regsvr32 rsaenh.dll /s
regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll /s
regsvr32 dssenh.dll /s
regsvr32 rsaenh.dll /s
regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll /s
regsvr32 sccbase.dll /s
regsvr32 slbcsp.dll /s
regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll /s
regsvr32 schannel.dll /s
regsvr32 wuapi.dll /s
regsvr32 wuaueng.dll /s
regsvr32 wuaueng1.dll /s
regsvr32 wucltui.dll /s
regsvr32 wups.dll /s
regsvr32 wuweb.dll /s
regsvr32 atl.dll /s
regsvr32 wucltui.dll /s
regsvr32 initpki.dll /s

Suggestion 4:
=========
1. Click Start-->Run, type following command and click OK.

regsvr32 /u "%windir%\downloaded program files\msrdp.ocx"

2. Click Start-->Run, type regedit and click OK.
3. Search for msrdp.ocx, export and then delete all the keys found.
4. Restart the client and check if the issue persists.

I hope the above information is helpful to you. If the problem still
occurs, please help me gather following information:

1. Does the issue happen for all the IE7 clients?
2. Does the issue happen for IE6 clients?
3. Does the issue happen for all the users?

4. Please download the MPS Report tool from the following link and run it
on both the problematic clients and the SBS server, then send the generated
CAB file to my mailbox v-mzhuan@microsoft.com for further investigation so
that we can find what the root cause is:

http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...5-a579-30b0bd9
15706/MPSRPT_SETUPPerf.EXE

For your information:

Please try the above steps at your earliest convenience. If you have any
concern, please feel free to let me know.

Best regards,
