| SharePoint Services 3.0 Configuration Wizard error
Our software: - SBS 2003 SP1 - ISA 2004 SP 3 - .NET Framework 3.0 - SharePoint Services 2.0 - SQL Server 2000 (SHAREPOINT) - WSUS 3.0 Our goal: - Install SharePoint Services 3.0 Our problem: - Following "Installing Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 on a server running WSBS 2003", after installing SharePoint Services 3.0 in step 2 with succes, we've got an error running "SP services products and technologies" wizard in step 4: an exception in the application HRESULT: 0x80004004. After that, I checked PSCDiagnostics log (in Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\LOGS) and I found no error. I also tried to repair SharePoint services 3.0 from add/remove programs, rebooted the server, and always the error. I installed sharepoints 3.0 updates suggested by Microsoft Updates: same error. Finally, I kept on with the following step in procedure, creating a new intranet site using SP services 3.0, and it worked! But, even if the new intranet is active and ready to use, I can not run companyweb anymore, and and old ASP 1 application no more. Could someone guide me with this ? Thanks |

Go to companyweb properties and makes the ASP.net version used is set to version 1.1. If you have to change it back to versions 1.1, go to the command prompt and issue an 'iisreset'. Do the same thing for the web site that your custom application is using -- Costas "Omar Seri" <omar.seri@telequal.com> wrote in message news:1193231236.067299.129820@q5g2000prf.googlegroups.com... > Our software: > - SBS 2003 SP1 > - ISA 2004 SP 3 > - .NET Framework 3.0 > - SharePoint Services 2.0 > - SQL Server 2000 (SHAREPOINT) > - WSUS 3.0 > Our goal: > - Install SharePoint Services 3.0 > Our problem: > - Following "Installing Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 on a server > running WSBS 2003", after installing SharePoint Services 3.0 in step 2 > with succes, we've got an error running "SP services products and > technologies" wizard in step 4: an exception in the application > HRESULT: 0x80004004. > After that, I checked PSCDiagnostics log (in Microsoft Shared\Web > Server Extensions\12\LOGS) and I found no error. > I also tried to repair SharePoint services 3.0 from add/remove > programs, rebooted the server, and always the error. > I installed sharepoints 3.0 updates suggested by Microsoft Updates: > same error. > Finally, I kept on with the following step in procedure, creating a > new intranet site using SP services 3.0, and it worked! > But, even if the new intranet is active and ready to use, I can not > run companyweb anymore, and and old ASP 1 application no more. > Could someone guide me with this ? > Thanks > |

Sharepoint may be corrupted. May try uninstalling wss3, follow KB829114 to reinstall companyweb and sharepoint. Then reinstall wss3.0. After that, even the message at the end of the intranet component suggesting to (re?) install SBS 2003 SP1 (what part of it?) and without doing anything else, http://companyweb shows the default intranet web application. The problem arrived when trying to restore the old dbs (STS_config and STS_servername_1) : after dettaching the recently created dbs and attaching the old ones, if I try to see the databases properties in Entreprise manager, I've got (a translation) "Error 954: database 'STS_config' scheme is incorrect" in a "Microsoft SQL-DMO (ODBC SQLState : 42000)" windows. The problem deals with sharepoint 2.0 versions (after reinstalling from SBS CD 3 there's no SP installed), or with MSDE SP version? Could someone help me restoring my sharepoint 2.0 companyweb? Thanks |
