    SBS 2003 Exchange SP2 c107041d

I went to apply SP2 Exchange on a SBS 2003 Server running exchange SP1 and no matter what I try it fails with the following red X

0xc007041d - The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion. (EXIFS)

    Facility: Microsoft Exchange Setup
    ID no: c107041d
    Microsoft Exchange Setup

I have gone as far as setting all Exchange services to manual, and rebooting the server, then attempt to install SP2 and I get the same error. I have installed SP2 more times that I care to remember never had an issue till now.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

I think this is what you need. Installation fails and mail flow stops when you install Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1) : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919076/en-us

    Still broke

Thank you for the insight and link, I had found the same article and even though I am installing SP2 and SP1 is already installed I did try what the article said.
I turned off all antivirus software by putting it in manual along with all the exchange services.
I will give it another try just to make sure I did not miss something.
I will hopefully be back to tell you it worked.
    Thanks again.

Hello marc644, Just follow the below steps:

    • Change EXIFS driver startup type to Manual (using regedit)
    • Change all Exchange and IIS services startup type from Automatic to Manual and restart the server.
    • Apply Exchange Service Pack 2 again and revert Manual startup mode to Automatic for EXIFS driver and Exchange and IIS services
    • Now start all services manually.
