Can you help me with these event log errors after a server crash?

One of our customer's SBS 2003 servers failed to shut down properly during a
scheduled restart. The server didn't have a monitor attached and one of my
colleagues (foolishly) performed a hard reset to bring the server back up.
Now the following three errors are showing up in the application log every
day. Can anyone help with solving these?

Windows SharePoint Services 3

Microsoft.SharePoint.Search.Administration.SPSearchJobDefinition (ID

included below. Attempted to perform an unauthorized operation.

This link http://gpeiris.blogspot.com/2007/03/...76-errors.html
says it might be a disk space issue. For the two VSS errors, some
searching says make sure the follow 3 services are enabled. There are
few comments on the Event ID 8193 listed at EventID.net, so you may
need/want to check those out.

· Volume Shadow Copy
· COM+ System Application
· Distributed Transaction Coordinator.

Re: Can you help me with these event log errors after a server cra

Thanks JD for your suggestions. Unfortunately they didn't help in this
instance.

The server has heaps of free disk space.
The three services you mentioned are all in the correct state.

I have also tried the folowing troubleshooting steps which haven't helped:

- Stopped the SharePoint Timer Service, deleted the contents of the
SharePoint file cache (&ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application
Data\Microsoft\SharePoint\Config\<someGuide>), then restarted the SharePoint
Timer Service

- Re-registered the VSS service and DLLs.

I wonder whether installing Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 would fix the
VSS errors?
