| Adprep SBS 2003 Active Directory does not work
Hello, I am trying to join a new Windows 2003 R2 Server to my current Small Business 2003 Server domain. When I run the adprep \forestprep from the 2003 R2 disk 2 disk I receive the following error on my SBS 2003 Server: adprep.exe is valid, but is for a machine type other than the current machine. Any help is appreciated. Thanks Stan |

Use the SBS Wizard to join the server to the domain then you can run DCPROMO to promote it to a DC. | Re: Adprep SBS 2003 Active Directory does not work
I'm confused as to why you are or needing to run adprep? This is a nes server joining an SBS domain and all that is needed is to run the wizard, then run \\servername\connectcomputer and then DCPROMO. When you run DCPROMO it will prompt you if you want to apply GC and DNS. Use the Adprep command-line tool to prepare both the forest and the domain. For more information about using the Adprep, see Active Directory Help. If so, you'll need to do the adprep/forestprep on the SBS2003 SP1 machine using a 32bit version. If you do not have a 32bit version of W2K3R2, you can download the trial version, burn the iso to a CD and use that. -- /kj |
