404 error trying to open companyweb

When ever I am trying to open Companyweb I am getting the following error:

Server Error in '/' Application.

The resource cannot be found.
Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly.

Requested Url: /default.aspx

There is no /default.aspx in inetpub/companyweb there is also no web.config just two folders /aspnet_client and /wpresources

This was working fine previously but now it has started to give me the above error. Please help.

You can try to manually remove any SharePoint Web sites, application pools, files, and registry keys that are left over after you uninstall the Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 program and the SharePoint MSDE and reinstall it again if you want.
