Companyweb Incoming Fax list

We are routing our faxes to the Sharepoint Incoming Faxes list. We would
like the ability to create folders and move the faxes to them for archival
purposes. The system will allow us to create the folders, but not use them
(as in other areas of Sharepoint).

I looked thru the configuration screens but don't see any options that
relate to ducuments and the ability to move them. Am I missing something ?

Thanks,

Gary

RE: Companyweb Incoming Fax list

Hi Gary,

Thank you for posting.

From the description, I understand that your want to route the incoming fax
to a specific folder in sharepoint. If I am off base, please don't
hesitate to let me know.

First, I want to make sure whether you know to do it through fax
configuration wizard and "Store in a document library" option is missing
when you run the Configure Fax Services wizard to configure fax.

If so, Let us perform the following steps to try to resolve the issue:

1. Register the following dll: (C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Small
Business Server\Client Experience\FaxRouteExt\sbssharepoint.dll). To do so:

a. Open a command prompt (cmd.exe).
b. Type the following commands:

CD C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Small Business Server\Client
Experience\FaxRouteExt regsvr32 sbssharepoint.dll

2. Check the security permissions on the "C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Windows Small Business Server\Client Experience\stswrapper.dll" file and
make sure permissions are as follows:

Domain Admins Full Control
Domain Power Users Read & Execute, Read
Network Service Read & Execute, Read
SBS SP Admins Read & Execute, Read
System Full Control

Please check whether the "store in a document library" option coming back.
If so, you can achieve this goal through Fax Configuration Wizard. Please
do the following steps:

1. Click Start -> Server Management.

2. In the console tree, click Fax.

3. In the details pane, click Configure Fax Server. The Fax Configuration
Wizard appears.

4. Follow the instructions in the wizard until you reach the Inbound Fax
Routing page.

5. On the Inbound Fax Routing page, select Store in a document library.

6. Type the name of the document library or subfolder where faxes will be
routed, or select the name from the list.

7. On the Finish page, review your settings, and then click Finish.

RE: Companyweb Incoming Fax list

Thanks for your reply - we do already have the faxes being sent to the
Sharepoint Incoming Fax folder. What we want to do is store the read faxes
in a sub-folder.

I was able to create a folder within the Incoming Faxes sharepoint folder -
the problem that I am having is being able to use the folder. I can't drag
and drop any of the faxes into the new folder.

I thought that I could drag and drop files in other sharepoint folders - I
just went back and tested the other folders and found that I can't do it
there either. I did find that I could switch to the Explorer view, right
click on a file and use the Cut / Paste feature - not a very elegant way of
doing it.

I guess that I am a bit surprised that Microsoft didn't allow the ability to
move files into the folders that it allows you to create. Am I missing
something ?

Thanks,

Gary

RE: Companyweb Incoming Fax list

Hi Gary,

Thank you for updating,

I understand you want to move the read fax into a subfolder you created in
sharepoint automatically, If I am off base, please don't hesitate to let me
know.

Base on my research, we don't have such feature in sharepoint, and to you
drag and drop question, please notice that sharepoint is a application base
on web, it cannot do the drag and drop as you did in your system, they are
based on different architecture. But this is a great and smart idea, we
will sent your feedback to our development department. We're sure your
experience will improve our product. Thank you for your understanding and
support!

Have a nice day!

Also, you can post in MSDN newsgroup, since they are more professional than

Hi Gary, I just came across your post trying to do the same thing. For
info, it is possible to put faxes into a sub folder, but the way I do
it, I loose the date/time of receipt and sender fax details etc.

Create a folder in the incoming faxes folder, and then switch to
explorer view. You will find you can drag and drop the files into the
new folder.

Regards

Martin

Re: Companyweb Incoming Fax list

Martin -

I did find that method but find it akward to do it and not worth the effort
- we have decided to save the faxes to a folder on our server for now. It
just seems stupid that they offer the folder features and did not allow one
to use it !!
