I have an SBS 2003 Sp1 with Exchange SP2. The event log shows up with the following error. Lots of them, Why! any hints?
"This is an SMTP protocol error log for virtual server ID 1, connection #566. The remote host "64.80.2.35", responded to the SMTP command "xexch50" with "504 Need to authenticate first ". The full command sent was "XEXCH50 1020 2 ". This will probably cause the connection to fail"

Just follow the steps provided and it should be fixed.

Thanks for your Info. I was on the right track but problem not solved!

Interesting, I was thinking receiving unsolicted Exchange mail. I have already done KB 818222, 843106. The troubling thing is that I still receive this message even if the Queue is emply, that why I was thinking incoming. Thing start to get better with SP2, but then worst after configuring IMF.
