    DCOM got error "Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password."

    Hi, Iím running a SBS 2000 with all latest service packs installed and patched with Windows Updates. There is also Exchange 2000 and SQL Server 2000. From past couple of days I noticed that an error is getting generated in my Event Viewer log 4 times a minute. It is as follows:

    Event Type: Error
    Event Source: DCOM
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 10004
    Date: 22/09/2006
    Time: 11:15:46 AM
    User: N/A
    Computer: SERVER

    Description:
    DCOM got error "Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. " and was unable to logon DOMAIN\Administrator in order to run the server: {888FC943-CB7D-43E7-BB64-905342B0D34D}

    While troubleshooting I found that there is no match for the GUID in the registry. Could this be the problem? Please suggest some solutions.

    Yes ofcourse the GUID may be the problem. To me it appears like GUID is for MailBasketMD program. Which runs as
    an activeX DLL with a COM+ application.

    You can get more info about this here: http://www.turbogeeks.com/products/mailbasket.asp

    Thanks a lot for the help SMichael. That exactly was the problem. I just went to Component Services in Admin Tools and
    configure the new password for MailBasket. Thatís it. Problem solved.

    Help appreciated.
