dsrestor error (Event ID:1005) in the application event log.

I have this error in the event log and I understand that this happens
when the DSRestore filter cannot connect to the SAM in order to sych
the domain admin and DSRM passwords. I found a KB article on how to
manually change the DSRM password to the same as the domain admin
password however this appears to be a workaround. Should the DSRestore
Filter be able to connect to the SAM server and if so why might it not
be able to in this case. I would rather fix it than workaround it. We
are running SBS 2003.

Thanks very much in advance for your help.

RE: dsrestor error (Event ID:1005) in the application event log.

Hi

I too am having the same problem although it is on a Windows 2003 Server not
SBS. The system freezes at applying computer settings and the only thing in
the event log is the following error.

Event Source: dsrestor
Event ID: 1005
Description :
The DSRestore Filter failed to connect to local SAM server. Error returned
is <id:997>.

However it is hard to track down why this is happening, I have seen the
workaroun which I am going to try but what caused this in the first place.

RE: dsrestor error (Event ID:1005) in the application event log.

I am also getting this error code in my event viewer. I have tried forcing
the passwords to be the same as mentioned here:
http://www.eventid.net/display.asp?e...restor&phase=1
But have not been successful in eliminating this message. I am seeking a fix
or a workaround but cannot find either. Please advise.
