    Backup Fails with error 0X80070458

I am having the SBS 2003 server and the backup on it has just started to fail for no apparent reason. It was running fine for couple of months but then started to fail with error 0X80070458. That sounds like that there is no tape in the drive and if I go to Computer Management >> Storage >> Removable Storage >> Libraries then no tape is showing in the backup device which is an HP DAT 72 USB. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the driver. Something that I checked in the log, is that it says it will enumerate on 3 media libraries but in the Computer Management only 2 are showing. The DAT drive and the CD device, not sure if this is relevant. Can anyone tell me how to solve this issue? Thanks. Check the below log:

    [LOG]

    NTMS session started successfully.
    EnumerateNtmsObject(NTMS_LIBRARY) succeeded.

You can try to rebuild the RSM database, for same check the below steps:
    1. Stop the RSM Service.
    2. Delete the RSM databases located at %SystemRoot%\System32\NtmsData.
    3. Restart the RSM Service, this will recreate new, empty RSM Databases.
    4. Put a new tape in, or a tape that may be deleted.
    5. Go to the "properties" of the disk inside the physical locations.
    6. Uncheck 'Enable Drive' Hit apply & then check the 'Enable Drive' again
    7. (This was done to reset the Flag since we had renamed the database for RSM)
    8. Right click, and prepare.

First of try to eject any tape in the drive and then run a cleaning tape make sure the cleaning light on the drive is extinguished. After that open Computer Management, Removable Storage, Libraries, Your Tape Drive and then right click on tape drive and select Mark as Clean. Hope this helps.
