The store.exe process is allocating more memory than usual.

Hello!
I installed Service Pack 1 for SBS 03, all went well, except that since then
I get this email alert every day exactly 24h after server was last restarted.
Nothing was changed on th eserver, in Exchange and nothing is happening at
that exact time on the system. It doesn't look that it is causing any
trouble, but I have to get it sorted out.

Alert on SYDNEY01 at 10/17/2005 3:34:30 AM
The store.exe process is allocating more memory than usual.

Check to see if you are having problems with e-mail. If so, stop and then
restart the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service.

Can you please tell me why is it happening and how I can fix it.
Thanks!!!!

I too have this problem so a fix would be anticipated :-)

Re: The store.exe process is allocating more memory than usual.

This is a fairly common question:

http://groups.google.com/groups?sour...bs&sa=N&tab=ng

In most cases, this error can be ignored. The real question is, "What is
not working?". In most cases, you will find that, while the memory counters
look fairly high, server responsiveness and the client experience are not
affected. Most SBS customers either disable the alert or increase the
threshhold to a much higher value.

Exchange pre-allocates memory as an performance optimazation. This prevents
you from having to wait on the database gathering large amounts of RAM while
clients are waiting for requests to be processed. Now, that said, there are
some cases where you really do have a loss of of functionality and more
troubleshooting is need. This article (and the rather lengthy list at the
end of it) covers these scenarios in great detail:

Re: The store.exe process is allocating more memory than usual.

Thanks Mark!
I agree - everything is working so I am happy to change the alert. But I am
not quite sure what the alert is. I checked, in Exchange System Manager,
server object -> properties ->Monitoring -> Virtual Memory Treshold (it is
30% and 20% - warning and critical at the moment). Or is it some other memory
parameter?
Thanks!
