Slow "Applying Computer Settings" on a small number of clients (long post)

I have installed SBS network at my company recently and it was working fine. But there is one problem that I was having, about some clients taking a long time to get past the "Applying Computer Settings" - the disk would trash away as normal and then stop and then again wait for another 1 and half minutes or so before taking them to the login screen. All of the effected clients are on a HP Compaq dx2000 computer, with the other 5 DX2000 working fine, as well as the various "local whitebox builder" machines that I have got. There is also some NIC problem, that sometime says "network cable unplugged" on the taskbar that will not respond when I click on it. Below is the error that I am getting in the local system event log:

    Event Type: Warning
    Event Source: DnsApi
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 11191
    Date: 14/07/2005
    Time: 17:21:11
    User: N/A
    Computer: ALPHA-042
    Description:
The system failed to update and remove pointer (PTR) resource records (RRs) for network adapter with settings:

    Adapter Name : {9707A2D2-EFBC-4FDF-93E1-3A932F016541}
    Host Name : ALPHA-042
    Adapter-specific Domain Suffix : Alpha.local
    DNS server list :
    192.168.102.2
Sent update to server : <?>
    IP Address : 192.1.1.1

The system could not remove these PTR RRs because because of a system problem. For specific error code, see the record data displayed below.

You can manually retry DNS registration of the network adapter and its settings by typing "ipconfig /registerdns" at the command prompt. If problems still persist, contact your DNS server or network systems administrator. More information on this link - http://www.eventid.net/display.asp?e...DnsApi&phase=1

Thanks for responding, I think it will be good to try the DHCP lease thing if the problem repeats again.
