I have recently deployed a new server with sbs 2003 on it on a LAN want to use the old server as a secondary server on the LAN in the same domain in case the primary server fails. Don't want it to do anything but synchronise with the primary server and to take over in the event of the primary server failing. Thinking of creating it as a child in the domain or dos it need to be domain of it's own and just join the same forest - is this the way to go or is there a better route. Also can only test this by connecting to the primary server which is live will it cause any issues? ie: connections issues to connected users? Be grateful for your input.
