Connect Computer does not meet max os requirements?

I'm migrating my small biz office to SBS 2008 with 3 new Win 7 Professional
workstations. When I try to connect to the domain with the workstation, I get
an error that my computer does not meet requirements, specifically "does not
meet maximum operating system requirements for running client setup".

This is Windows 7 Pro, which should be fine, right? I verified the network
connection by connecting my XP Pro laptop, which ran the connect wizard just
fine. Why am I getting this message on a machine that has Win 7 Pro?

Thanks,
Geordie

Chris posted this earlier in both this and the SBS2008 NG;

You need to install update rollup 3 for SBS 2008. You should be offered it
from Microsoft Update.

How are you connecting the workstations? - using 'connectcomputer'
method?

Have you applied the Vista patches to the workstations and server?

(see the wee links on the right of the page - Update rollup and
compatability update).

Re: Connect Computer does not meet max os requirements?

Thanks for your reply. I've run Microsoft Update and installed all offered
updates, but have not seen any "Rollup 3" update offered. I'm still having
the problem with connecting my Win 7 Pro workstation. Can I manually download
the rollup and install it that way? This is a brand new Dell server with SBS
2008 Standard pre-installed.

Thanks again,
Geordie

Re: Connect Computer does not meet max os requirements?

Hello Geordie,

Thanks for your post and others' suggestions.

AFAIK, there is no download package of SBS 2008 Rollup 3 on the Microsoft Download Center website. I would like you restart the server and click Start, Run and type:
"wuauclt.exe /detectnow" and then see if the Rollup 3 is detected and SBS 2008 server would download and install it.

Moreover, if we still cannot install Rollup 3, please try the steps listed in the below SBS blog to try to work round this issue:

Using Windows 7 BETA With SBS 2008

Hope this helps.
