Event ID 10009 every minute on sleeping XP machine

When an XP SP3 computer (running Tablet PC 2005, if that makes any
difference, just Windows One Care for Firewall and connection is always
wireless) on the SBS2008 network goes into sleep mode, there might be (not
continuous) hours of error 10009 every minute or two. Sometimes, even though
the computer is still asleep, the errors will stop for a few hours. The fact
that it's not continuous for the entire time the tablet XP computer is
asleep makes me wonder if it's something with the server - obviously nothing
is changing on the client while it's asleep. Or, maybe the server just times
out and gives up trying to reach it?

The text of the error in the SBS 2008 event log says, "DCOM was unable to
communicate with the computer xpcompname.domainname.local using any of the
configured protocols." Where xpcompname = the name of the XP computer and
domainname = my domain name. The full error is pasted below.

This error appears to be harmless, but given that I may be getting several
hundred of these per day and that I couldn't find anything on the Internet
that appeared to relate this error to a computer going to sleep, I thought I
should at least try to troubleshoot and fix this.

Any suggestions? Anything else I should check or look at? Happy to provide
more info if needed to help some of the experts here diagnose.

Re: Event ID 10009 every minute on sleeping XP machine

I found the problem. It wasn't related to the unit going to sleep. It was
running the Intel wireless networking utility. That utility would not let
the system properly talk to the network when the user was logged out or the
system was locked. By removing that and just using Windows Wireless
Networking, everything now works fine.
