SBS2008 Sharepoint Setup

I just recently installed windows small business server 2008 and setup active
directory. Once I got active directory setup I then ran the internet
connection wizard and setup my domain name to be used with the server. All
went fine. When I go to http://companyweb or any other domain to access
sharepoint I am asked to login with my user credentials and once inputed I am
present with a page stating "The webpage cannot be found" giving a 404 error.
Does SBS2008 not setup sharepoint services to work from the get go? Am I
missing a configuration step? My Sharepoint Central Administration site works
just fine. Just companyweb does not work.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Alan A.

Re: SBS2008 Sharepoint Setup

Best place to start would be to try running the SBS 2008 BPA and post any
results you are not familiar with or do not understand.

RE: SBS2008 Sharepoint Setup

Check your DNS entries, maybe you just do not have companyweb record there.
what is being reported for nslookup companyweb

With kind regards

Re: SBS2008 Sharepoint Setup

Ran the best practice analyizer and it did not come back with any errors
relating to Sharepoint. Any other things to try?

RE: SBS2008 Sharepoint Setup

DNS resolves companyweb to 10.1.1.31 which is the correct IP for internal. It
also resolves the correct outside IP address when I use our public domain.

RE: SBS2008 Sharepoint Setup

Also I wanted to add that if I go to the website
http://companyweb/default.aspx it gives me a 404 file not found. Is there
suppose to be a default webpage for the sharepoint site?

Is there a way to reinstall sharepoint in SBS 2008?
