Sorry for your trouble. The conditions you describe can be caused by malware/viruses, or perhaps by software errors, or by underpowered hardware, and you have not given us enough information to be able to hazard a guess as to which. Please give us some specs on your hardware... brand, model, CPU specs, how much RAM, hard drive size and free space, number of drives, how partitioned, and if RAID, and if so, what controller, software or hardware and is it fully functional, especially when the problem occurs. Also the brand of Anti Virus you use, the service pack level of your SBS, including if it has Windows SP2, SBS SP1, Exchange SP2, and what version of WSUS and ISA. Open Task Manager and check if the CPU or the RAM is being used 100%. Let us know. One nic or two? IP address of each nic in the server? Do you have exclusions for your Anti Virus to not scan such things as the system state folders, the exchange date bases and so on? Please give us the unedited results of the command; ipconfig /all > iptest.txt Please give us some sample errors from your event logs. Any before it locks up? |

So, its Pentuim D 3.2 ghz (two cores), 4Gb of ram, 500gb HDD not in RAID - 3 partitions, free space is about 30% on each partition. Its SBS 2003 Premium SP2 ISA v. 4.0.2167.907 Exchange SP2 WSUS i think its uninstalled NOD 4.0 installed and Nod managment console installed. Exclusions for NOD are C:\*.* and D:\*.* (because of very slow shared folders and whole server) CPU usage is between 1-10% Server has 2 network adapters - local lan and DMZ - so 2 IP adresses iptest... Hmmmm, Broadcom NIC's eh. You'll read lots about 'em here over time, re folk having problems with the drivers. So ensure you update 'em - it *may* be the cause of your problems. PS: yer DNS entries should be in the DNS server forwarders, not on the NIC's. If you re-run the CEICW it'll fix that up for you. |

| Re: SBS 2003 freezes sometimes
Have you fixed the DNS entries? All the DNS pointers on all of your nics should be to the internal address of your SBS. The CEICW will fix that for you, and populate the DNS forwarders. Please download and run the SBS BPA, then fix whatever it finds. |
