Installing moss 2007 on sbs 2003 setup errors wizard won't finish

Any help is useful. this is killing me, cannot find answer.

Question:

Upgrading moss 2007 side by side to sharepoint 2.0 on sbs 2003.

Install says run wizard afterwards.

Run the wizard.

1st error:
sharepoint products and tech configuration wizard help file could not be
found. Repair this prodcut by selection it from the add/remote.

Then it runs with error:


Get error:
an exception of type
Microsoft.sharepoint.postsetupconfiguration.Postsetuptaskexception was
thrown. additional exception information: a failure occured when accessing
the registry entry setuptype locatted at reg key:
hkey_local_machine\Software|microsoft|shared Tools\Web Server
Extentions\12.0\WSS.
Repari this product by selecting from add/remote.
(the see log file)

Fails.
Try to uninstall. Starts and just stops.
To to repair. Says it repairs.
Still try to uninstall it fails.

Tried to uninstall net 2.0 and 3. and reinstalling them.
Then re-install.

fails.

I cannot find anything to either start fresh or repair this.

Any help out there?

MOSS isn't supported on SBS 2008. You can do a side by side with WSS
3.0, MOSS is a flat out no go with Exchange on the box.

So is this a box you care about? What's the condition it's in? Did you
use aaron stebner's .net fix up tool?

I am doing the wss2003 install not mo side by side on sbs 2003, not 2008

yes. Its our sbs box currently.

Condition:
Will be migrating to 2008 soon. Had success on 2 other demo boxes. But this
popped up on ours
Want to try this out to see about resolving this incase it happens to client.

No. This just a removal tool of .net?

Any other pointers on the error or registry issue?

That's not MOSS, then, good.

Try this .net removal tool. It will truly rip it out so you can then
reinstall it.
