Can't open sharepoint company web site externally

I was trying to setup a http://companyweb which should be accessible via RWW for external access but as soon as I click the “Administer the internal company web site” option, it gives me an error message saying:

“Internet explorer cannot display the webpage.
User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0;..NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.04506.648; .NET CLR 3.5.21022; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 3.0.4506.2152; .NET CLR 3.5.30729)
    Timestamp: Tue, 10 Feb 2009 16:15:29 UTC”

I don’t know what is causing the problem. I even changed the default.asp page so it points at the external ip. Do someone here have any information on the same? Please help.

To me it appears Firewall problem. Have you opened the Port 444 on your firewall? Also did allowed Sharepoint remote access when you ran CEICW? Make sure you have all these things done. Other than this, I think your Certificate is not matching up with your IP. Anyways, I’ll suggest you I recommend a "A" Record of server.yourdomain.com then using server.yourdomain.com as the web cert.

Thank you very much for the help Jason A. You were right. My Port 444 was not opened and also it was the certificate problem. I fixed this both and now it opens the company web if I'm logged into the remote web workplace as administrator. But there is still a problem. It opens only as Administrator, not if I'm logged in as anyone else. It just keeps on asking for the login credentials.

    Any further help please?

Did you made any changes in settings of IIS? Also did you used the wizards while adding the users to the SBS box?
