| Migrate SBS 2003 to SBS 2008 w/ Roaming Profiles & Folder Redirec
I'm currently running SBS 2003R3 and am upgrading to SBS 2008. I currently am using both roaming profiles and folder redirection and I'm not clear on the migration process. The SBS203 server is going away so everything is moving to the SBS2008 server. SBS 2003 is setup this way: 1. User profiles and stored at \\sbs03\Profiles 2. Folder redirection is defined in the SBS - Windows Vista Policy GPO 3. Folders are redirected to \\sbs03\Users The migration guide is unclear about the process with this type of configuration. Here are the questions I have so far: 1. Does the user migration wizard actually move the roaming profile data to the new server? 2. With SBS2008, do the roaming profiles go in \\sbs2008\UserShares or somewhere else? 3. I don't understand when to configure folder redirection on the SBS 2008. Does the migration wizard move the users files from the old server to the new? I'm concerned about this because the guide says to delete the SBS Vista GPO (which ia where I have defined the folder redirection) on the 2003 server prior to migrating the user accounts. Anything else I should know? My thanks to anyone who can help me out here. |

I don't know 2008 yet, but I would assume you would move your roaming profile data manually, to the path of your choice (but not in the same folder as your user shares - you'd never mix 'n match this data now). IMO you should always set up folder redirection via your own policies & not the built-in SBS ones, anyway. |
