SBS 2008 Setup help

Until last week I was running a SBS 2003 network which crashed suddenly due to some reason and was unable to fix up. Hence yesterday I bought a new Server system which came preinstalled with SBS 2008. Now am facing some problems with this brand new system. The very first problem is remote connectivity. It is kept at my home and I want to access it over network so that I can get my mails anywhere. I have done this successfully in SBS 2003 but seems like there not possible in this new version. How can I setup remote access without either having my existing domain hosted on the SBS box, or buying a new domain name? Please help.

As you said, if you have your own Domain already hosted than you need to simply contact your hosting provider and tell them to create a new DNS for remote.domain.co.uk that points to your public IP because SBS 2008 will use it as ‘remote.domain.co.uk’.

Alternatively if you have a Dynamic IP then yet you can use dyndns. For doing this as well you will need to call up hosting provider and get created a DNS CNAME record for remote.domain.co.uk

Thanks for the quick help friend. I did everything as you said but I’ve a small question here. How does it point to the remote.SBSserver/Remote URL? I mean how can adding a DNS can resolve the problem of not able to access the remote.domain.dyndns.org at all?
