| Not a Valid Win32 Application
We just purchased a 2008 Server. We moved the data folders for two of our software packages to the server. Now, when we try to run the programs from our workstations, we get a message telling us it is not a Valid Win32 application. It cannot be that the install is bad because we didn't install anything. Any help someone could provide will be greatly appreciated. |

| Re: Not a Valid Win32 Application
According to your description, I understand that: Users that attempt to execute the program file get the error message "not a Valid Win32 application". If I have misunderstood the problem, please don't hesitate to let me know. Suggestions: ================== Typically, you will receive this error while some other programs running on the computer are interfering. Please make sure that the computer and the program is not infected by virus. On the virus issue, I would also like to suggest that you call Microsoft PC Safety telephone number, 1-866-727-2338 (1-866-PCSAFETY). This service offers no-charge assistance for virus-related issues or questions. Also, you can check Microsoft Security and Privacy Web site at: http://www.microsoft.com/security/. This Web site offers various articles, updates, tips and tricks, and resources to protect both home and business computers from virus infection or attacks. To isolate the influence of other programs on workstation, you may consider booting the workstation into a Clean Boot environment to see whether it works: 1. Click Start, click Run, type "msconfig" (without the quotation marks) in the Open box, and then click OK. 2. In the Startup tab, click the "Disable All" button. 3. In the Services tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" checkbox, and then click the "Disable All" button. 4. Click OK and restart your computer. If the issue disappear with clean boot, it indicates that some software/updates prevent the execution of the program. You can uninstall recently installed software/updates one by one to find out the culprit. If the issue persists, please collect the following information for further investigation: 1. Can the program be executed from the server properly? Does the issue happen on the specific workstation(s) or all workstations? 2. Please also verify the permissions on the program file to make sure that users have the appropriate rights to execute it. Hope this helps. Also, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to let me know. |
