Exchange will not create a new mailbox or alias

I am posting this somewhat again, but I am in a serious bind and the problem
is much broader than I thought.

When I create a new user no mail box is created. The account exists, but
exchange never creates the mail box.

When I create an user alias, it works once, then all mail is bounced back as
"user does not exist".

I even tried renaming an old account that was unused to the new user name
and got one email thru, then they all bounce back "user does not exist"

I have another post in here referencing a loss of some group policys (Re:
Policys disappeared‏)
http://www.microsoft.com/communities...2-07444b629899

Is there a group policy for Exchange and I'm missing it??

Here is the address if you want to try it. "contact (at) fbchnc.org"

Do you have a mailbox store listed under Recovery Storage Group (under the
"servers" in Exchange System Manager)?

Watch out! Exchange Recovery Groups!

Russ, I have run many times and the only errors are ones like your storage
and Nic drivers are over 2 years old. If does want me to upgrade to WSUS 3.0
(I tried to install R2 on this server, recently but It wont't work)

RE: Exchange will not create a new mailbox or alias

Hello Joe,

Thanks for your post and others' suggestion. This is Robbin again.

In addition, I would like you check if the Exchange Recipient Update
Service is working fine on the SBS server. You can use the Recipient Update
Service to update recipient objects in a domain with specific information,
such as address list membership and e-mail addresses. If this service
corrupts, it will not create corresponding recipient policy for new user so
that they won't have a email address then. To check the Recipient Update
Service, please try the following suggestions:

Step 1: Set the default schedule setting for the Recipient Update Service
to Always Run

To set the default schedule setting for the Recipient Update Service to
Always Run, follow these steps:
1. Start Exchange System Manager.
2. Expand Recipients and then click Recipient Update Service.
3. In the right pane, right-click Recipient Update Service
(yourdomain.com), and then click Properties.
4. Click the General tab, and then click Always run in the Update Interval
list.

Step 2: Manually run the Recipient Update Service

You can manually run the Recipient Update Service to update the user
information in the Global Address List. To do this, follow these steps:
1. Open Exchange System Manager.
2. Expand Recipients, and then click Recipient Update Service.
3. In the right pane, right-click Recipient Update Service (yourdomain.com)
and then click Update Now.

Please also refer to the following related articles for more information
about Recipient Update Service.

How to check the progress of the Exchange Recipient Update Service
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/246127/en-us

How the Recipient Update Service applies recipient policies
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/328738/en-us

How to work with the Exchange Recipient Update Service
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/319065/en-us

Missing permissions cause the Recipient Update Service not to process
accounts in Exchange 2000 Server and Exchange Server 2003
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/254030/en

If the issue persists, please let me know:

1. Can you see the new user's mailbox created in the Exchange System
Manager. -> First Storage Group -> Mailbox Store -> Mailboxes ?
2. Can you find the new user's name in Global Address Book(GAL) from an
normal user's Outlook?
3. Does this issue occur to all newly created users?

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to let me
know.

Thank you for your time and cooperation.

RE: Exchange will not create a new mailbox or alias

"always run". I then did an "update now". It is still not doing it however. I

This is a 3 month old post and since you are using a 3rd party website
http://forums.techarena.in
The only people who will see this is the people who monitored this
and the few people that read that website
if you want everyone to see your question
I suggest you set up our newsreader for

msnnwes.microsoft.com
newsgroup: microsoft.public.windows.server.sbs

and post directly to the newsgroup
you will reach everyone and get more answers.

Avoid using http://forums.techarena.in to reply to and you do fine
If you want to search for issues
Google archives this newsgroup and you can use that to search for things.

Thanks
Russ

Hi, Russ,

I've just had a personal email from someone connected with this forum,
'offering' me an answer to a question from last February which I didn't
ask, and wasn't asked in the thread referenced.

I smell spam.

There are reasons why people munge their email address. If someone
really wants to contact they can demunge but it takes a slight degree
of thinking. A bit more effort than harvesting good email addresses
from posts.

Yes, I know that, but I won't. I've used that address for ten years, and
I have an attack-trained mail server. I've had four spams get through
(as far as my client's filters, which got them) in the last three days
out of around 2500 attempts.

Just make sure you have a good PTR-A pair if you email me.

But it's fairly clear that the forum, which I won't name, is currently
spamming for business.
