| IP-based AUTD failed to initialize. Error code: [0x80004005]
I'm not sure how to resolve this. I did some research and before I start poking around, I thought I had better ask some experts. I haven't had any errors in my Server Performance Report except for the usual 2, which apparently, I can't do anything about: 1) ESENT(215) certsrv.exe(1420) due to having a cert server and running NTbackup 2) Symantec SymSnap VSS Provider auto start service not running - I have System Recovery SBS 8.5 This error is new: Server ActiveSync(3024) and (3015) - I'm getting over 200 occurrences per day, in each category. I believe it may be due to a Windows Update, but not sure. I patch as soon as they come out.(Only 2-3 users). I also think it has something to do with my Windows Mobile 5 Device.(Working on going to 6 soon). My phone seems fine and everything appears to be syncing correctly. Can someone tell me what these errors are andhow to resolve them? Thanks for any information on this! -JoeF |

Thanks for the reply Merv. I don't see that update in my recent history. Go back farther. The update Merv posted was released back in July. The problem can go undetected for several reboots and then "magically" rear its head. A simply registry entry fixes the issue. -Cliff "JoeF" <JoeF@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:51A06AAC-AF91-4B00-A3BE-EA3911BB686E@microsoft.com... > Thanks for the reply Merv. KB951746 and KB 951748 were installed on 7/9/2008. I haven't had a problem until 10/16/2008. Do I add UDP port 2883 in the Reserved Ports registry key? UDP port 2883 is directly related to Exchange Direct Push. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../bb125069.aspx http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l...EXCHG.65).aspx "Cliff Galiher" wrote: > Go back farther. If I read the article corrected, you should be able to just add the 2883-2883 range in the registry key (then reboot server). If you want to be more proactive, add the other UDP ports mentioned: a.. 1645-1646 a.. 1701-1701 a.. 1812-1813 a.. 2883-2883 a.. 4500-4500 -- Merv Porter [SBS-MVP] ============================ "JoeF" <JoeF@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:E0C08624-45D8-4CA9-A7E6-97C439E0BD7A@microsoft.com... > KB951746 and KB 951748 were installed on 7/9/2008. Thank you very much. I have one last related question. I have 3-4 other SBS servers out there, which are not reporting the error. Should I proactively add these reserved ports on those SBS servers as well? Just looking for an opinion....thanks you! -JoeF "Merv Porter [SBS-MVP]" wrote: > If I read the article corrected, you should be able to just add the > 2883-2883 range in the registry key (then reboot server). | Re: IP-based AUTD failed to initialize. Error code: [0x80004005]
Absolutely. The DNS patch picks ports *at random* which is why a problem can go unreported for several months. Then one day...normal maintenance reboot...and *wham* you get the problem. It isn't a matter of if, just a matter of when. I highly recommend doing this to any SBS servers you are responsible for. -Cliff "JoeF" <JoeF@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:7905CA3E-CCB5-41AD-A6F0-34A5C42E822E@microsoft.com... > Thank you very much.
