Unable to install security update for SQL Server 2000 Server Service Pack 4

Security update for SQL Server Service Pack 4 has been downloaded but it is
not being installed. SQL Server has been shut down and even then it is not
being installed. Can some one suggest a work around?

SQL Server has been shut down and even then it is not
being installed.

Ergo why it's failing. It won't install on instances that aren't
running. If you are absolutely sure you won't use SQL (and you are
missing out on monitoring) then click to ignore the patch.

Thanks Russ for your response. There is no error message but it says that it
has failed to install.

We are being asked to install this SP but it keeps failing to install, I've
tried a number of things which have been suggested by Microsoft without
success. Any advise would be gratefully received. I have a screenshot of the
error msg but I canÂīt attach it :-)
