windows server update 948110 failed --SQL 2000 update 948110 causes SharePoint to not load

I installed the July updates on my SBS 2003 SP1 server and have ran into
problems with update 948110. There are actually updates with that number,
One for Windows Server 2003 and the second for SQL 2000 SP4. When I
installed the updates the one for Windows Server 2003 failed. I was watching
during the install and when I seen that update fail I began searching for
anyone else that may have had problems and found that I was not the first.
It seems that the SQL 948110 update is not working correctly and messes up
SharePoint. After it installs the SharePoint webs that are on the server
won't load. Here is where the information is located that I found if anyone
is interested. I had to restore the BINN folder as suggested on this web
page http://simultaneouspancakes.com/Lessons/ in order to get SharePoint to
work.

Has anyone here had any experience with the Windows Server Update 948110
failing and is it related to the SQL update too?

It depends.

There is a known issue where a WMSDE instance isn't fully upgraded to
SQL server 2000 sp4 so the patch thinks your are still on the WMSDE
instance even though you are SQL 2000.
