| Appointments not displaying in calendar view
This one has me stumped! Outlook 2007 SP1 with shared calendar Windows XP Professional SP3 Small Business Server 2003 R2 Everything was working great until a user installed iTunes 7.7 and tried to sync his calendar with his iPod Touch (recently updated to v2.0 firmware). We've determined that shutting down before ejecting the iPod causes the Outlook data file to not properly close. Now there are some appointments which Outlook will not display in the Day/Week/Month view. The appointments are still there - they sync to the iPod, are visible in OWA, and from other users' profiles via shared calendar. If we change the view to All Appointments, the "missing" appointments are there. Further, when a new appointment is being created at an adjacnet or conflicting time, Outlook doesn't notifiy that the new appointment is adjacnet to or conflicting with the existing appointmnets. The "invisible" appointments follow the user logon from PC to PC. I've deleted cached profiles on two machines, I've renamed the .OST file in existing profiles, but nothing has helped. Any ideas about what is causing this and - more importantly - what to do about it? |

Well, what is causing this is itunes. It's a POS! ... oh...wait... All joking aside, are you using roaming profiles? If so, I'd try temporarily converting the profile to a local one, dump any outlook into out of the registry as well as the OST, and then re-roam. -Cliff "Bryce Alan Katz" <Bryce Alan Katz@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:FF4B53D6-12AB-464A-A6F9-415D608CD8D8@microsoft.com... > This one has me stumped! > > Outlook 2007 SP1 with shared calendar > Windows XP Professional SP3 > Small Business Server 2003 R2 > > Everything was working great until a user installed iTunes 7.7 and tried > to > sync his calendar with his iPod Touch (recently updated to v2.0 firmware). > We've determined that shutting down before ejecting the iPod causes the > Outlook data file to not properly close. > > Now there are some appointments which Outlook will not display in the > Day/Week/Month view. | RE: Appointments not displaying in calendar view Hello, Thank you for your post and Cliff's input. My name is Robbin Meng, and it is my pleasure to work with you on this issue! Please allow me to confirm that my understandings are correct. As I understand it, the issue is: After one of your users installed iTunes 7.7 and tried to sync his Outlook calendar with his iPod Touch, shutting down before ejecting the iPod causes the Outlook data file to not properly close. Now there are some appointments which Outlook will not display in the Day/Week/Month view. OWA works fine and others can view the appointment normally via shared calendars. If I have misunderstood your concerns please feel free to let me know. Based on experience and research, this issue may occur if the Outlook data file is not properly closed and the user's mailbox store may be somewhere corrupted that it cannot work with Outlook 2007 interface smoothly. Therefore, this issue may be physical data store damage. However, I still would like to provide some suggestions to work around this issue. Let's try the following steps: 1. Fallow steps in KB 829918 to create a new Outlook profile How to create a new e-mail profile in Outlook 2007 and in Outlook 2003 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/829918/en-us 2. Use other MAPI client to instead of Outlook 2007 If possible, please try to logon the user's mailbox using a client computer that has Outlook 2003 instead of Outlook 2007 to have a try. Hope this helps. Thank you for your time and cooperation. I'm sure the issue was initially caused by improperly closing the the Outlook data file. The user wasn't ejecting his iPod Touch before shutting down his PC. However, we've tried logging him on to new profiles on other PCs in the office and the issue follows his login. The office is not setup to use Roaming Profiles and I made sure to use PCs he hadn't previously used. I'm thinking the issue is on the server and not in his PST or OST file. Thoughts? Hi, Thanks for posting back to me. To continue troubleshooting this issue, let's try to delete the user's old Exchange attributes and re-create new attributes . 1. Backup that user's mailbox via SBS backup wizard or export the mails to PST file; 2. Go to AD Users and Computers, find the user's properties and run the "Exchange Task" 3. Remove the user's Exchange attributes, then re-run the wiard to re-create new attributes . Please try if the issue persists or not.
