Windows Vista media player 11 crash on start

I am using Windows Vista with Windows Media Player 11. Due to some reason I need to upgrade my processor last week. Since then whenever I start my WMP 11, it crashes in 10 seconds after launch every time. There was no such problem before upgrading the processor. The same thing is happening with Zune applications as well installed on this pc. It too crashes just after the launch.

I tried to get some help from web and found few sites mentioned to delete the DRM folder. I did it but yet getting the same problem. Do anyone here have any working solution for this Crash?

    Many thanks.

Re: Windows Vista media player 11 crash on start

As per my experience there could be two reasons for this problem. First, any file in the library is corrupt when it requires DRM checks and second, the DRM system itself is broken. So just do one thing, close all browsers and other applications including WMP and open this link in Internet Explorer 6: http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/...en/indivit.asp

On this page you will find a button “Upgrade”. Is it clickable on your system? If yes, then no problem but if it is grayed out then you need to delete the DRM folder on your PC. Delete it and restart the computer. See if it crashes again.

Yeah, that is correct. In such cases deleting the DRM folder will fix the problem. If in case you get the same problem yet than you need to reedit your DRM registry. Most probably your DRM registry entry may not match your actual DRM folder path. So just visit the following location in registry editor: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DRM

This is the key that contains your DRM folder’s path. See if it matches or not. If not, then will have the Indiv01.Key error every time. You need to edit the folder path exactly to match.
