    Failed to Install ISKernel Files

This is a Windows Vista 32bit based Dell desktop. I installed a Sprint Wireless card on computer but when I try to install its driver, it gives me an error message saying:

    “Failed to Install ISKernel Files.
Make sure you have appropriate privileges on this machine.”

So far I’ve tried doing everything I know about but nothing worked. Do you guys have any idea regarding this? Please help me to install the driver. Thank you.

Re: Failed to Install ISKernel Files

As I don’t have anything related to Sprint Wireless card on my system I personally don’t have any idea regarding this. But as wanted to help you I did search on Google for hours and finally found a website regarding this problem where a Sprint guy have posted that the problem is actually with the installed 10.0 InstallScript engine merge module. He also mentioned that there will be an update in the future that will provide the new merge module that should fix this.

So I think you will need to wait until they launch the update. As of now there is nothing to work with.

RE: Failed to Install ISKernel Files

Even I have exactly same problem with sprint wireless aircard. Tried various things but nothing worked. Atlast I called up sprint guys and they told me to that the connection manager installer should work with vista. But they haven’t listed how to use the same in the mail. Can anyone please tell me how to use it and how it can help me with this problem?

Dude, you actually need to install the Connection manager on your system and then it will help you to install the drivers for sprint card. You can download it from web. Once downloaded the setup, right click, select Run as Administrator and install it.

Try installing from the command line

    Right-click the command prompt icon.
    Choose Run as Administrator.
Type the following at the prompt: msiexec /i c:\<filepath>\<sprint-install>.ini
    <filepath> example: c:\mydocs\downloads\
<Sprint-install>: The Sprint msi file you are "double-clicking" to install.

    Hope this helps!
