The update in the title was given for download today. So, I got the message that it was not installed. But when I checked in Event Viewer then it was showing that it has been installed properly. When I checked the WindowsUpdate.log file then it was giving some sort of error message that states "Failure.. Content Install.. Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80070643: Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 1 (KB929300)." Is there any solution for this problem?

You can try to troubleshoot this error code 0x80070643, which is normally a Windows Install failure message, by running the installation interactively at the desktop and see what happens. Incase the SP is like any other .Net SErvice Packs then my first assumption would be that you tried to install it during workday and one or more of the the .NET files were locked by the system due to a running application.

Did you check the Microsoft Update Catalog? Failing that, there's a redistributable available at the download center for NET 3.5, which includes 3.0 SP1 and 2.0 SP1. At present there's an issue with update 932471 trying and failing to install if it wasn't already present when .NET 3.5 was installed. But I think that you can't use Windows Update or WSUS, so this won't matter to you.
