errors with wsus3.0

Environment:
WSUS 3.0
Windows Server 2003 SBS Service Pack 2
Things were working fine until yesterday, i don't know what went wrong and i am getting below error in event viewer "The DSS Authentication Web Service is not working."

I want to know if i can do anything about it.

Have you enabled Anonymous access for the IUSR, if not then go to properties of SelfUpdate site, check out director Security, Authentication and Access Control and enable Anonymous access for the IUSR from there. If you don't find anything wrong in there then try using Server Diagnostic Tool for WSUS for finding out exact cause of the issue in your case.

I have checked out IIS console and properties of selfupdate site and it's correct. I have tried using server diagnostic tool and i am not getting any error there but "The DSS Authentication Web Service is working correctly." is still there in event viewer. Is there anything else that i should check out or any workaround that i can try out further???

Go into IIS, In right pane you will see "Web Service Extensions", if you might have updated .NET "ASP.NET then status might have got prohibited and you will have to change it to "ALLOWED". Once you have made the changes you can open WSUS and you should not get that error again. Give it a try and let me know if you find it helping, best of luck.
