| event id's 364 & 10032
Hi all, I have 3 WSUS servers on 3 sites, 2 are fine, but 1 is really giving me problems. All 3 are running the latest version of WSUS. The server will synch ok, will update products and classifications ok, will show how many files need to be d/loaded and the size. But refuses to start downloading! The server is behind an exact duplicate of the firewall as the other 2. Event logs show the following errors (in chronological order) Event Type: Information Event Source: Windows Server Update Services Event Category: Core Event ID: 10030 Date: 03/10/2007 Time: 03:51:37 User: N/A Computer: BOAS2K301 Description: The server is downloading updates successfully. "Value does not fall within the expected " seems to be a common factor, google doesn't sem to have much on this. Any help would be most appreciated. |

This is an error caused because a proxy server or firewall is not configured to fully support the HTTP v1.1 protocols. Specifically, this is a manifestation of the Range Protocol Header in the HTTP v1.1 protocol specification, and the failure of many systems to properly support this feature "out-of-the-box". We've seen it dozens, if not hundreds of times, in this group over the past couple of years. -- Lawrence Garvin, M.S., MCTS, MCP MVP - Software Distribution (2005-2007) MS WSUS Website: http://www.microsoft.com/wsus My Websites: http://www.onsitechsolutions.com; http://wsusinfo.onsitechsolutions.com My MVP Profile: http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/pro...awrence.Garvin |

You were right - there's a small tick box on the proxy that says "Require authentication for unrestricted source addresses:" the other two proxy's were unticked - this one was ticked, as soon as I rectified that, I was then presented with the EULA's to accept. So it was an authentication issue. WSUS is the only application that fails to authenticate properly in this respect (Trend AV server works if the option is selected on the proxy). > > > Content file download failed.
