WSUS for Workgroup Computers

We have got our corporate computers and servers and have set-up WSUS which is working fine, but we have got many servers that are in a workgroup configuration for security concerns, which are on the lan. What we want is that to use these servers on out WSUS servers, so can anyone tell us any ways to configure them, since we are unable to use GPO's? Thanks

I think that server side targetting is not relevant for the question that you are asking, you are actually not understanding what it is doing. It usually tells us how computers are assigned to WSUS groups and has nothing to do with configuring computers to use WSUS. Because you are not in a domain, you wont be able to use group policy, so you will have to use registry settings, check the below links:

If you dont want to use the registry and do not prefer minding configuring each server individually, then you might be able to use the local group policy. You can try to configure the computer using local policy.
