No computers reporting and LOTS of 80244019

I have a WSUS 3.o server I just installed. Uninstalled 2.0 and installed 3.0
Have several Vista boxes and another 2003 server. None of the boxes (not
even the WSUS server itself) have reported or show up in the WSUS console.
Looking at the update log on the WSUS server itself I see the following.

Also get 80244019 errors on Vista machines. Have tried numerous suggestions
from this group (deleting SoftwareDist, doign detectnow, etc). Any info
woyld be helpful.

I ended up uninstalling IIS, SQL, and WSUS. Then reinstalled IIS, and WSUS
and went with SQL Express instead of SQL.

Posting actual error messages, or actual log entries would help.

Merely citing an error code doesn't give anybody much to go on, which is
probably why the poor response.

For what it's worth, the 0x80244019 error is an HTTP 404 error message,
which means the client isn't finding what it's looking for. Beyond that, I'd
have to know exactly what the client was trying to access before I could
offer anything more that would be useful.

Your note about the client not being able to find what it was looking
for lead me to look at IIS on my WSUS server (Windows Server 2003
64bit, IIS 32bit & WSUS 3.0).

Under Default Web Sites, I checked the properties for Selfupdate. The
Local Path did not look correct, so I Browsed & manually set the path.
After the Apply, computers started checking in & updating their
status...

I had set the Directory browsing property for Content, but I don't
beleive that was the setting that caused everything to start working.

My first guess would be that the 'selfupdate' virtual directory is missing
from the Default Web Site.

I had the virtural Dir in the default site vs having it under the WSUS..

I was able to get teh Clientdiag to run cleanly.

I actually have to restart now!
