KB923088, Nod32 blocking update, fix for large WAN?

Unlike other patches, KB923088 is failing to install on hundreds of
workstations.

On about 100 we were able to repair Office 2003 and then the patch
took.

We have 82 machines left which the patch continues to fail after
numerous repairs of Office 2003.

The problem is identical to this one;

However we already have many days involved in trying to fix this. I
don't really want to run around to each machine, disable NOD32, install
the patch, then reboot. The patch takes a long time to install.

Is there some way I can configure NOD32 to ignore some
process/directory to get past this patch? Something I could set, apply
the patch, then remove the exclusion?

The error on each PC is;
Error 1101. Error reading from file: C:\WINNT\Installer\MSI291E.tmp.
System error 32. Verify that the file exists and that you can access
it.

So would I exclude the %windir%\installer\ directory? I'm thinking
not, I am thinking it is the source process such as
office2003-KB923088-FullFile-ENU.exe. However, isn't the file name
different when coming from WSUS?

Exclude C:\winnt\installer or c:\windows\installer

Approve the patch and let it install

Remove the exclusion, as it's a nasty thing to do.
